About CPA Library

CPA Library provides members with access to information resources to assist them in their day-to-day work, education and professional development.

Walk-in libraries are located in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Australia-based members located outside of these cities can request items via the online catalogue to be express posted to them.

CPA Australia's offices located outside of Australia have smaller libraries, which hold core publications, including material to support CPA Program segments.

CPA Library also provides online services that are available to all members regardless of their location:

ProQuest: an online journal service giving members access to hundreds of international accounting, business and management journals

e-books: 200 books covering diverse topics such as accounting, IT, leadership and project management

Ask an information expert: submit your information requests, which CPA Library staff members will research on your behalf

The current collection

CPA Library, also known as the C. W. Anderson Library, houses one of the most important accounting and business library collections, and is also the third largest library for this type of material in the world.  As well as online resources, CPA Library provides members with access to books, journals, DVDs and audio CDs.

The collection contains items published and authored by the ASA, ASCPA, CPA Australia, Centres of Excellences and the divisions and branches of CPA Australia. The collection also houses many papers given at professional development and conferences run by ASA, ASCPA, CPA Australia and our divisions and branches.

Online subscription services are also available from leading publishers including CCH, Thomson Reuters, LexisNexis and Dow Jones. These services are available for use in the library and also provide valuable resources for library staff to utilise when conducting research for members.

CPA Library database

CPA Library database is a catalogue of the resources held by CPA Australia's libraries and comprises approximately 82,000 records. The database is available for members to search online and to reserve items.

CPA Library's unique collection

The historical collection consists of items which are deemed to be no longer current, but are still considered to be of significant importance as they reflect the changing nature of the accountancy profession and the prevailing business, economic and cultural conditions of bygone eras.

The collection includes many first and subsequent editions of major Australian and international accounting and auditing texts, books and conference proceedings, many of which are unique to CPA Library.

CPA Library also has a large collection of archival material, which includes the administrative records of CPA Australia's antecedent bodies dating back to 1885. The majority of the archives are housed in the Melbourne library and are on restricted access.

In 2008 the archive collection was named the Jill Bright Archives in recognition of the valuable contribution made to CPA Australia by Ms Bright for over 36 years service.
